A stay at our camp site or hotel gives you the opportunity to experience a range of activities in the area, either on your own, or in the company of one of the competent local guides. We are located in an area between three national parks, and one of the most wonderful activities to be enjoyed here is hiking through the spectacular landscape.
In Jostedalen valley, about 30km from the hotel and camp site, you have the possibility to join guided walks on the most attractive arm of the Jostedalsbreen glacier: Nigardsbreen. There are also various other sights and activities to be explored in Jostedalen, including rafting and kayaking on glacier lakes. Leirdalen bre og juv offer river canyoning and glacierhiking from their base only 15km from Gaupnetunet,
Just across the fjord, 5 km from Gaupne, in Marifjøra, you can go on kayak excursions, and hopefully you get to see porpoise and fjord seals.
The municipality of Luster is well known for its many churches. The oldest church in Gaupne dates from 1647 and is well worth a visit. The best known of all the churches in Luster, is Urnes stave church. This church is the only stave church to be included on UNESCO's World Heritage List. Urnes stave church stands in a beautiful landscape on the southern shore of the Lustrafjord, 20 km from Gaupnetunet and Sandvik Camping.
